Quilt Raffle

Created by The King Carter Quilters of Virginia, this beautiful Victorian crazy quilt is offered for raffle. It took twelve quilters three years to create. The craftsmanship is old world exquisite. Detailed embroidery can be viewed in several closeup pictures below. A booklet with the individual quilters' stories will be included with the winning raffle ticket. This was inspired by a conversation with Terri Thaxton, the Executive Director, and Jayne Jackson, one of the quilters who worked on this quilt. "When Jayne told me she had sewn a portion of her wedding dress into the quilt, my heart melted," said Ms. Thaxton. "I immediately thought the person who is lucky enough to be the winner and owner of this quilt should know this, and what had the others done, what were their thoughts while creating this." Thus, this very personal booklet was created.

The raffle tickets are $5.00 each or 5 for $25.00. Tickets may be purchased at the museum or by mail. Checks made payable to Steamboat Era Museum. Master Card and Visa are accepted. Please mail your check or charge information to Steamboat Era Museum, P.O. Box 132, Irvington, VA 22480. Or call 804-438-6888.

The winning ticket will be chosen during the winter 2007 annual Casino Night. The quilt can be mailed to the winner within the continental US.
